Delighted to have begun sharing my MAERL Seabed Superhome exhibition at the Sawyer Gallery with visitors at Inverewe Gardens -just in time to celebrate World Oceans Day today, that has the global community action theme of “Strong Marine Protected Areas for Our Blue Planet”
Here are a few images taken by friends and colleagues at the launch on Saturday, 6th June, not easy to take in the immersive low lighting – thanks to Veronica Vossen, Lesley Strachan and Neville Rigby. An immersive film of installation is planned.

A link to exhibition interview between Ginevra House Sawyer Gallery Curator and Julia gives the background to the exhibition

Inverewe Gardens feels like the perfect location for this work – close to the Wester Ross Marine Protected Area, which was designated to protect the largest area of maerl in Scottish waters. Please visit and share information about the exhibition and MAERL both here and on Instagram @juliabartonartist
Many thanks to the National Trust Scotland, The Eaton Fund, Little Loch Broom Marine Life and in-kind support from colleagues , friends and family for supporting the making and showing of this exhibition.
